About Based on the jewel beetle (Buprestidae) known for their glossy iridescent colors.

The family is among the largest of the beetles, with 15,500 species known.

The adult beetles tend to rest on trees or flowers.

Jewel beetles can be found around the world, with a significant number of species inhabiting forests and woodlands in Africa, Southeast Asia, and Central and South America.
